Bakewell afternoon tea Sept 26

Lovely venue, with a good selection of cakes and sandwiches for the afternoon tea - nearly ended up taking a doggy bag for what we couldn't manage! Staff polite and efficient. We ate upstairs, though there was scope to eat downstairs. We'd checked where the nearest car park was, but need to check as it can be busy on market days. [This was supposed to be part of an 'afternoon tea on a steam train experience' which didn't quite work out as planned, as the train ride was separate. It worked out a better option having the afternoon tea at the Original Bakewell Pudding Company.]

We had a great time at this venue for our first time ever trying Cuban food. The experience took far too long to book via the gift voucher company but once we were booked and arrived at the venue we couldn't have loved it more.

Our Steam Train Experience turned out to be a rail journey on a diesel-electric Intercity 125.... It was thoroughly enjoyable experience and we would definitely recommend.

Not what I had expected

We were given a steam train experience. So I read up and it states that the steam train could be cancelled due to hot weather. So we waited until the cooler weather. Extremely disappointed when we get to the station to be told no steam train is running on that day. They only run on certain weekends. Nowhere in the booking does it say that it won't be a steam train. I can sit on a diesel train any time. But we made the most of it. Just wanted a steam train.
